Create your own game cards and become a part of TaBooYa!

Have you ever wanted to make your own TaBooYa cards? The full version of TaBooYa currently has over 1000 game cards. We're working on creating more and we'd like you to be part of the process. We believe the game benefits from the creative diversity of many minds. Send us your words. If they are accepted (after review and adjustment), they will be included in a future version TaBooYa, and you can have your name listed in the app as a “Contributor” for each game card that is accepted.

Send us an email at pdxappdev@gmail.com with the following information:

- Your list of game card words: Each game card has 1 main word and 10 “TaBooYa” words (feel free to include more per card - we will use the 10 best).

- Your name, and whether or not you would like your name included as a contributor in the app.

Ta-BooYa Reverse Single Player Update

Ta-BooYa Reverse has been updated to work better for single player gaming.  The player is now given a set goal to complete within a given amount of time.  By default, this is 10 words in 3 minutes, but this can be adjusted through Settings if it's too difficult or too easy.

Ta-BooYa Weekend Update

Ta-BooYa is being updated this weekend to display properly on small low density screens.  Previously, the buttons had been cut off at the bottom.  Devices include HTC Tattoo, Motorola Charm, and a few others.

Also, the intro video is being removed.  It was freezing on Android 2.1.  It also takes up a good amount of space and delays app start by a few seconds.  The intro video may return at some point but we want to see how Ta-BooYa players respond to this change.

For new downloads of Ta-BooYa Lite, the numbers of cards has been reduced to 150 (from 200 previously).  This will not affect existing installs, so you can update Ta-BooYa Lite and still have the original 200 cards.  The $1.99 full version still has over 1000 cards.

Skip button added to Ta-BooYa Reverse

One suggestion was to add a Skip button to Ta-BooYa Reverse.  The only way to skip a card previously was to ring in and enter a wrong answer.

Ta-BooYa Update

Responding to a comment, Ta-BooYa Reverse has been updated to be more lenient on spelling errors.  For example, if you enter "dissapear" instead of "disappear", it's not going to fuss.  Spelling purists might not like the change, but wait until you have to spell "Arnold Schwarzenegger".  Not all typos are caught, but Ta-BooYa will now repeat the word you entered when it thinks you're wrong.

Note also that one of the many existing game options is speech recognition, which will allow you to say the word or phrase instead of typing it.  It's turned off by default.  It also isn't foolproof, as some Android devices have better speech recognition than others.

Keep the suggestions coming and feel free to send us an email.

The name Ta-BooYa is loosely based on the Chinese language. In Chinese, Ta Boo Ya can be translated to “he doesn’t want” or “he can’t have”, and Ta Ya means “he wants” or “he can have”. “Ta-BooYa” is two games in one. In the traditional game, the player describing the word or phrase can't use certain words or phrases in the process. If the rule is violated, “Ta-BooYa!” is proclaimed to remind that the players can’t have those clues. However, the reverse game involves the players receiving clues one at a time in order to guess the blank word or phrase.
